Terms of Service

For the purposes of these Terms, 'the Company' refers to JapanContact, and 'the Applicant' refers to the individual submitting the application for service. This service is offered as a prepaid, non-guaranteed facilitation for listing the Company as an emergency contact on official documents. Details regarding potential refund conditions are described later in these Terms.

By accessing or utilizing this service, the Applicant is deemed to have accepted and agreed to the following terms and conditions in full. This service facilitates the provision of the Company’s contact details, to be represented by a Japanese national, for the sole purpose of listing the Company as an emergency contact on official application documents submitted to landlords, real estate agents, educational institutions, or other relevant entities. The service is strictly a facilitative offering and shall not be construed as legal representation, sponsorship, endorsement, a reference, or any form of personal, legal, or financial guarantee. The Company does not warrant that any third party will accept or approve the Applicant’s use of this service.

The Company shall be designated solely as an emergency contact. The Company does not provide legal consultation, immigration-related assistance, or guarantor services. Furthermore, no physical presence, advocacy, or direct intervention shall be provided as part of this arrangement.

The scope of this service is expressly limited to the Company’s name and contact information being recorded on application documents. The Company shall not initiate contact with any third party (e.g. landlords, schools, or agencies) unless explicitly requested by the Applicant and formally acknowledged by the Company. The outcome of any application lies solely with the third party involved and is outside the Company’s control.

The Applicant fully understands and agrees that acceptance or rejection of the provided emergency contact information is entirely at the discretion of the third party (e.g., landlord, agency, school). The Company has no influence over such decisions and shall not be held liable under any circumstances for application denials, delays, or any consequences resulting from such outcomes, including but not limited to financial loss, housing insecurity, visa issues, or emotional distress.

While the Company endeavors to remain accessible during standard business hours, it makes no representations or warranties regarding real-time availability or responsiveness. The Applicant acknowledges that this service is not intended to function as a 24/7 emergency response system, and any missed calls or communication delays shall not constitute grounds for liability.

The Applicant warrants that all information provided through the application process is accurate, complete, and truthful to the best of their knowledge. Any misrepresentation, submission of falsified documentation, or suspicious activity may result in immediate termination of the service without notice or refund.

This service is rendered on a prepaid basis and is generally non-refundable. However, a full refund will be issued if the Applicant provides verifiable documentation that a landlord, school, employer, or other third party has explicitly rejected the use of the Company as an emergency contact. All refund requests are subject to review and approval at the sole discretion of the Company.

The Company reserves the right to decline, suspend, or terminate the provision of this service at its sole discretion if it determines that the service is being misused or that the safety, integrity, or reputation of its staff or partners may be compromised. Grounds may include, but are not limited to, abusive behavior, fraudulent use, or any application of the service outside its intended purpose.

The Company expressly disclaims all responsibility and liability for any delays, adverse outcomes, or damages—whether direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential—resulting from third-party decisions, policies, or actions, including but not limited to application rejections, miscommunications, policy changes, lack of follow-up, or refusal to recognize the Company as a valid emergency contact. Use of this service does not guarantee any particular result.

The Applicant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Company and its representatives against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or disputes arising from or relating to the use or attempted use of the service, except in cases where such harm arises solely from the Company’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.
